Brittany's Visit to USU

During Spring Break, the kids and I went up to Lewiston to see the grandparents.  Brittany and I were able to get to USU and do a tour there.  We got to see a lot of the campus and some housing stuff and they fed us lunch. She is pretty excited about going to school there.  I was pretty excited about the library, which is new since I went there (a way long time ago).  They have a computer-run system for part of the library that is like the door storage in the movie Monsters, Inc.  Here's a photo of it.  The computer sends out a call for a particular book.  The rack the book is on comes out of this storage and a librarian gets the book and puts it in a rack for you.  This thing is 3 stories high!  How cool is that?

Update on Mark

Well, it's been awhile!  Here's my excuse.  Mark was off work for a week in between jobs and then the kids were out of school for a week, so my schedule has been a bit off.

Mark started his new job at Goldman Sachs on April 14.  The first few days were iffy; he wasn't doing much and everyone else was really busy doing meetings that didn't include him, etc.  But toward the end of the week, he got a project to work on and he has seemed almost content (although stressed) since then.

Of course, to get to the new job, he needed...  you guessed it!  A NEW CAR!  So here's a picture of the new member of the garage.  Lexus 350 GS, black leather, black paint (shows everything) and a sweet sound system.  He's so spoiled!  But I think he doesn't mind the drive to work so much now.

As if that weren't enough, Mark was also called to be the Elder's Quorum President in our ward.  He got his counsellors called and they are working on getting a secretary.  They had a nice first meeting on Sunday and they're all pretty excited about serving in this calling.

Last Week

Life has been busy as usual this week.  I have spent quite a bit of time at Tanner's school trying to work with him and his teacher.  He has one more week of Learning Technics and we will be done with that!  It has been good in some ways, although probably not "life changing."

Jared went to the eye doctor on Friday and is trying to do contacts.  He has tried before, but has never been able to get them in and out without a lot of effort!  We'll see how motivated he is!

Tanner was having trouble doing a writing assignment in school the other day, and he said he thought it would be better if he had a typewriter.  I was talking to my neighbor, Jane, about it and she said she happened to have an old one we could borrow.  So I went over and got it.  Jared, Tanner and Kiersten have all fought over it since then!!

Kiersten typing away!

Kiersten has a dance performance coming up on May 1 and 2 at Lone Peak High School.  You are all invited to come!

Tomorrow is Mark's last day at the Church.  He starts his new job at Goldman Sachs on April 14.  We hope it will be a great job for him.  He is planning to spend the week off reading FASB statements.  What fun!
