Island Park Trip Day 3

I finally got up the guts to ski (it had been kind of cold outside!). The water really wasn't too bad.

Here are some little baby grebe birds (the little white balls) on their mother's back! It was fun to watch them float around, and sometimes the little ones would slide off and get back on.

Island Park Trip Day 2

Here's Mark doing some awesome skiing!

It was a little chilly this trip, but Kiersten wanted to swim every day. Tanner got to fish one day, too. Here they are just relaxing on the tube.

Grandma likes to watch 'em.

We girls all painted our toenails and put jewels and flowers on 'em! (Clockwise from top: Kiersten, Brittany, Kris, Grandma Hammer)

Pioneer Day Fireworks

We had some fireworks left over from the 4th that we set off on Pioneer Day. We like to take photos with the fireworks setting on my camera. Here's Jared making a swirl with a sparkler.
And a circle with a light stick.

Deer Creek Reservoir

We took Christopher's kids to Deer Creek to make sure the boat was ready for our Island Park trip. It was a fun day!

Here's Brittany towing the little girls.

Hannah having lunch.

Bryce having dessert.

Jared having driving lessons.

Amber having fun!

Scrapbooking

Trying really hard to get 2003 finished before my scrapbooking trip. Here's the page I did yesterday with some fun photos of Mark's whole family. Click to see it up close and read the text.

Amber's Birthday Party

We went to Sugarhouse Park for our niece, Amber's, 13th birthday party (her dad, Christopher, is Mark's younger brother).  Tanner and Bryce are very similar, and they got along great. They went off down to the lake and sat and looked at the baby ducks (the little huddle next to the momma duck on the sidewalk). They thought those ducks were "so adorable!"

Tanner's Robotics Camp

Tanner went to a Robotics Camp which was organized by 4-H in Salt Lake and Utah Counties. It was four days, five hours a day, which was pretty long. They were programming the Lego Mindstorm NXT.

The first couple days were pretty good; he learned to make the robot follow a black line. He said it was long, but then he said it seemed like it was only 10 minutes long! The third day we forgot his meds, so it was not such a good day. He was teamed up with a brother and sister, and the third day the sister dropped out. Apparently she was the one keeping them on track, because it didn't go so well without her.

Today was the fourth and last day, and I got him started, then left for awhile. I went back about halfway through and he was not really doing much. The other kid was doing it all and they were both complaining about each other. So I stayed the rest of the time and by the end they had managed to work together on a project and had completed one of the missions. They each got a white ribbon on their certificates of participation!

Tanner says he would like this if it were shorter and a little more structured. We are thinking of starting a 4-H Robotics Club and inviting his friends to join it. We would need to work on those cooperative group projects a bit more!!

Here's Tanner and his partner. In the background is the table where they tried out their robots to see if they would complete the mission properly. They received points for each thing they were able to complete.

Jared's New Do!!

Jared decided he wanted to bleach. We said he had to pay for it!

Peas!

I should have picked peas before I went to Lewiston, but I didn't. And here's what I had to do when I got home! This wasn't all, either. I picked another big bowl the next day!

Lewiston 4th of July Horse Pull

So I'd never been to a horse pull before. They hook these huge horses up to a sled-type thing (no wheels) and have them pull the sled 20 feet. The heavy weights in the video were pulling 7000 pounds, which was double the weight of the team of horses!

Lewiston Parade 4th of July

We went to Lewiston for the 4th. Brittany sold fireworks at Rod's family's tent again. She had a good time. This is photos of the parade.

This is Great-grandma Ruth Hammer. My mom and dad just moved her from Idaho Falls in to the house next door to them so they could take care of her. She is really liking it and we enjoy seeing her more often.

Mark and Kiersten getting ready for the parade to start.

Lainey and Dan and Swiffer, the dog.

Some stuff in the parade!

Grandpa was on pooper-scooper duty. His Webelos scooped it and put it in his little wagon trailer behind the 4-wheeler.

More stuff in the parade!
