Making Butter!

We were out of butter this morning. Everywhere. Even in both freezers. So what did I do? I MADE SOME in the blender! Just put in the cream, add about 1/4 t salt, and blend! No food coloring in this; it was a nice yellow. Mind you, this is 15 minutes before Kiersten is supposed to be at school and I needed it to put on her bread. I'm such a pioneer today!

It's a long story, but I have been buying raw milk the last few days. The top pint is cream, so I've skimmed it off. And... used it to make butter! I'm planning to make homemade yogurt, too (in my crockpot; I'll get the link up if the yogurt actually turns out), so I'll keep you posted on that.

Love it! When my kids were little we'd always make butter at Thanksgiving time. Put the cream in a quart canning jar and take turns skaking. So fun.
